Biography
Born in Tashkent. Graduated from Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography in 2006 (Igor Yasulovich’s course). Finished music school (piano), dance academy and Mark Weil’s School of Drama of the Ilkhom Theatre in Tashkent. Took a summer course in directing at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts (London, 2014).He is a production director, actor, an author of poetry translation.
He produced such musicals as An O. Henry Christmas by P. Ekstrom (Moscow Pushkin Drama Theatre, 2014), Spring Awakening by D. Shijk (Gogol-center, Moscow, in collaboration with K.Serebrennikov, 2013), Love Story by H.Goodall (Imagine Productions Co. at the North Osetia National State Opera and Ballet Theatre, Vladikavkaz, 2013), Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by A. Lloyd Webber (St.Petersburg State Musical Theatre for children and adults Karambol, Saint-Petersburg, 2015), Pride and Prejudice based on the novel of the same name by J. Austen (Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre, 2016), Bernarda Alba by Michael John LaChiusa based on the drama of Federico García Lorca (Sverdlovsk State Theatre of Musical Comedy, 2016), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street by S. Sondheim, The Last Five Years by J.R. Brown (Moscow Theatre of Drama and Comedy on Taganka, 2017, 2019), The Mikado by W.S. Gilbert and A. Sullivan and Evita by A. Lloyd Webber (Sverdlovsk State Theatre of Musical Comedy, 2017 and 2018);
operas: Viva la Mamma by G.Donizetti (Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theater, 2015), Rigoleto by G.Verdi (Ural Opera Ballet, 2019).
He is also an author of Russian libretto and words for Jekyll & Hyde and The Land of Smiles by F. Lehar (Saint-Petersburg Musical Comedy Theatre).
He debuted as a director at the Bolshoi Theatre with Il Viaggio a Reims by G. Rossini (concert version, conductor: Tugan Sokhiev, 2017). Among his subsequent productions: The Guide to the Orchestra. Le carnival des animaux (theatrical concert, 2017), Candide by L. Bernstein (operetta in theatrical concert performance, 2018).
He is also a librettist and director of the ballet Gabrielle Chanel (Svetlana Zakharova’s project, premiered at the Bolshoi Theatre in June, 2019).
